Seed starting time!

Wow, I can’t believe the change in weather lately! Yesterday morning was cold, rainy and nasty. Even at 2 pm driving over the Shawangunk Ridge, the weather was dreary and foggy. I had about a half hour to kill before my appointment with naturopath (the most amazing woman in the world!), so I drove around the beautiful back roads taking in the peacefulness of the horse farms and nature in general. By the time I got out of the car, the temperature was almost warm and the sun shining magnificently! What a turn around!

The glorious weather was a reminder that spring really is here and eventually the weather will be beautiful every day. Spring for us means starting our garden. I can’t wait to plant the garden! Last night I had to order my seeds! It was difficult not to purchase every single seed pack. I love the Hudson Valley Seed Company which is just a few miles from my house. They sell organic and non-organic seeds, all of which are locally grown and harvested. I love being able to purchase local and organic seeds. This makes me more confident that they will do well in the New York climate. The prices are very reasonable, as well-around $3 for each pack of seeds. I ordered carrots, beans, radishes, watermelon, peas, tomatoes, sunflowers and other cut garden flowers. After placing my own order, I bought all the seeds our school needs to get its garden started. If you live in the Northeast, I definitely recommend trying Hudson Valley Seed Company. Their website is simple to use and they’re incredibly helpful if you call or email them.

Buying seeds is really the first hope I have that spring will actually get here. Right now it’s warm out but there’s still huge snowpiles around. But I can’t wait for the beautiful box full of seeds to arrive!

Do you have a garden? What are your favorite things to grow?

Have a beautiful day!

Aileen
